The Tatras rise sharply on the Polish–Slovak border, and the flying reflects it: strong ridge and wave soaring for gliders, dramatic tandem paragliding above Zakopane, and dropzones within easy reach. Most people heading here base themselves in Zakopane or Kraków and travel out to a launch — Nowy Targ and Bielsko-Biała on the Polish side, Poprad on the Slovak.
